I spent my early childhood in Germany and the Middle East, but grew up in San Francisco. I went to San Francisco State University, where I studied English, mathematics, and physics. My husband and I owned a weekly newspaper for many years, where I worked as a journalist and photographer. We now spend our time surrounded by history in Europe and by our books and computers at home in the northern California Sierras.
